Trent Reznor has involved himself in the fundraising of a heart transplant for Eric De La Cruz, brother of former CNN anchor Veronica De La Cruz. De La Cruz is unable to find his way onto a transplant list as the state of Nevada, where Eric lives, does not currently boast an active transplant center. Reznor has thusly offered an opportunity to the public to hang out with himself and NIN in exchange for a donation that would go to the worthy cause. The NIN’s site sports some Reznor wisdom stating, “Eric’s situation shines a bright light on a broken health care system, and his particular set of problems are being addressed on the political front, aiming for reform in addition to the need for immediate financial help to keep him alive TODAY. I think we can help with the latter.” The project began with a pot of $260,000 being made in the first day, and as of last night at midnight the tally reached a staggering $446,020!
