Holy shit! You know what happens when a certain Icelandic singer and French director get together, right? Some of the best music videos ever, that’s what. So it will come as pretty damned exciting news to fans of the two artists that at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, Michel Gondry revealed that he was planning a new project with Björk. Said Gondry, “We have a very ambitious project, a sort of scientific musical. …[It's a movie], but maybe more for museums. Like a 40 minute IMAX project in 3D.” Nice.

Björk Contributes New Song To Finnish Flick
11.16.09If you don’t know what a Moomins is, you are way out of the loop in regards to Finnish children’s films. These hippo-esque creatures are the brain spawn of Finnish author Tove Jansson. Icelandic national treasure Björk likes these stop-motion characters so much that she is writing a song for the Moomins’ upcoming movie Moomins and the Comet Chase. The Comet Song, as it is so fittingly called, was penned by Björk and her collaborator buddy Sjón. Although we might not get the chance to be dragged by our offspring to see the Moomins in theaters in the UK or North America, the film premieres in Finland in August or September 2010.

Beck Record Club Project Starts With The Velvet Underground
06.19.09If you haven’t already heard, Beck has assembled a little pet project by which he and some friends will choose a record, and spend one day covering the album from front to back, subsequently releasing it one track at a time online. Well the first project has been completed and thus the initial song has been posted. You can enjoy a cover of The Velvet Underground’s album, The Velvet Underground and Nico, starting with the first song now online, entitled Sunday Morning. Talks of working on the Digital Underground’s Sex Packets buzzed about; however the L.A. eccentro rocker decided on draping himself in some velvet after all was said and done. Reportedly the session included quite the eclectic gathering of folk, such as Giovanni Ribisi, producer Nigel Godrich, session drummer Joey Waronker and Icelandic singer-songwriter Thorunn Magnusdottir. Something tells me these projects have nowhere to go but up.
