If you haven’t already heard, Beck has assembled a little pet project by which he and some friends will choose a record, and spend one day covering the album from front to back, subsequently releasing it one track at a time online. Well the first project has been completed and thus the initial song has been posted. You can enjoy a cover of The Velvet Underground’s album, The Velvet Underground and Nico, starting with the first song now online, entitled Sunday Morning. Talks of working on the Digital Underground’s Sex Packets buzzed about; however the L.A. eccentro rocker decided on draping himself in some velvet after all was said and done. Reportedly the session included quite the eclectic gathering of folk, such as Giovanni Ribisi, producer Nigel Godrich, session drummer Joey Waronker and Icelandic singer-songwriter Thorunn Magnusdottir. Something tells me these projects have nowhere to go but up.
