On May 11th, ANTI- will drop the new album by the super earnest rapper/poet Sage Francis. What makes Francis’ new album, entitled Li(f)e, slightly out of the ordinary is that it will comprise entirely of collaborations with indie-rock bands or singers, and will tackle everyone’s favorite party ice breaker: organized religion. OK, so the concept sounds a little suspect, but the personnel recruited to join the Rhode Island native on his fourth album are drawn straight from the upper echelons of indie-rockdom; including Califone’s Tim Rutili, Death Cab For Cutie’s Chris Walla, ex-Grandaddy frontman Jason Lytle, Sparklehorse’s Mark Linkous, Tim Fite, and members of Califone and DeVotchKa, which promises for a pretty interesting mix, especially if Francis’ 2005 collaboration with Will Oldham is anything to go by.
