There have been a lot of endorsements and fundraising by musicians on the part of the two candidates for the American presidential election (though let’s be honest, most have been in Obama’s favor). On the eve of the election, two interesting examples have come to light. First, perennial Obama backer Jay-Z had an interesting performance in store for the president’s final rally in Columbus, Ohio. “I’ve got 99 problems but Mitt ain’t one,” Hova spits to the delight of the crowd (Bruce Springsteen also played that rally, but didn’t to our knowledge switch up any lyrics). But the more hilarious endorsement on the day came from everybody’s favorite Motörhead frontman, Lemmy. “Please, please don’t vote for Mitt Romney. Fuck him. Repeal abortion law is the first thing he’ll do. Fucking monster,” are the kind words he told Rolling Stone. Addressing Obama, Lemmy added “I mean, the poor fucker’s only just gotten rid of all that George Bush shit that he left, or is trying to. And he’s being stonewalled by the fucking Congress all the time. I don’t know how he’s gotten anything done. They should be glad. I mean the alternative is Mitt Romney.” So if you base your vote on the singer of famous metal bands, your choice is between Lemmy and Dave Mustaine.
