How many retail music agents does it take to fuck up a release? Just one… and the winner is Amazon… Wait… I mean the loser? The online music monster has erroneously shipped 500 copies of Lil Wayne’s forthcoming album Rebirth almost two months earlier than its slated release of February 1st 2010. It seems that the six release date changes caused some confusion within the tune jungle’s camp, causing a “shipping mishap” which has lead to half a thousand copies appearing in mailboxes across the US. It seems Universal Music Group Distribution had pressed a million copies of Rebirth prior to the release date being pushed back yet again, and although Universal sent a formal request for the disks to be returned, Amazon shipped the albums in question anyway. Reports dictate that the shipped album may not be the final version so take heed kiddies… there may be some eBay business to tend to.
