Observant readers will remember that not so long ago we told you that Slash was getting a cabal of artists together to perform on his upcoming solo project, including Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, Dave Grohl, Flea, and recent additions Kid Rock and Lemmy. Well, the first taste of this new Slash project has been served. A two song release washed ashore in Japan earlier this week. The A-side of this Nipon-only release is Sahara, a Slash/Koshi Inaba team-up, but it’s the B-side that grabs your attention. Cypress Hill and Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas join Slash in singing a bizarre cover of Paradise City. Those of us not living in Japan can always check out the tunes on YouTube. “Until now, not too many people have heard Fergie sing rock & roll but she sings it better than most dudes I know. She’s a screamer at heart,” Slash told his Twitter followers. Those waiting for a Paradise City cover to appear on Slash’s upcoming album were let down easy, as he also said “This Japanese release will not be on my record in the West, which is all new original material.” Sorry.
