Har Mar Superstar @ Club Lambi – 10.30.09

11.05.09
Har Mar Superstar

Har Mar Superstar waged musical war against an unsure crowd at Club Lambi Friday, and won them over with his blunt humor and raw sexual confidence. As he started the show singing the guitar-heavy Game Night, wearing a purple dress and a gold shawl, eyes shifted among the crowd, as if everyone was looking for an explanation of the phenomena unfolding on stage. It became radically clear as he asked the crowd to “step into the fire” that this show was all about Har Mar. The beige and white clad band fell into the abyss as Har Mar dominated the dance floor with his unique mix of Beyoncé and MJ-inspired moves and began removing pieces of clothing. That is, except when he sat down at a table mid show and said, “Don’t fucking look at me!” More of this blunt humor and upbeat tunes got the reluctant crowd smiling and dancing in their seats. But Har Mar was far from satisfied. “What is dancing fucking banned here? What is this footloose? You guys can rebel!” This won him his battle as some of the crowd finally turned a sit down show into club scene. After closing the show with the synthesized new dance anthem Tall Boy, Har Mar ended the night impressively, going a capella and exposing some impressive chords hidden beneath the candid persona. From stripping down to his underwear and seducing the bartender, to licking girls in the crowd and standing on his head, Har Mar Superstar was all about entertaining the crowd. And entertaining he was.
