Jack White’s Third Man Records are planning a 7” release of A Glorious Dawn, a YouTube phenom mixed by John Boswell. The composer’s arrangement has Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking free styling about the wonders of the universe. The 150 uber special edition pressings of the Cosmos Colored Vinyl will feature the etching from the Voyager Golden Record. For those who don’t know, in ’77, a record was fired into space, the planetary equivalent of leaving a mix-tape on the bus for someone to find and fall in love with. Sagan headed up the committee that decided on the album’s content. Languages and nature sounds are the stellar B-side to tunes including Johnny B. Goode and Dark Was the Night by Blind Willie Johnson. In related news, my personal project, a steel-drum beat with some Alan H. Guth and Jocelyn Bell styles laid over it, is postponed indefinitely.
