Earlier this year, the Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton died of a heart attack. Iggy Pop tapped former ‘70s Stooge James Williamson to pick up guitar duties for the Stooges shows at All Tomorrows Parties over there in the UK. This coming weekend Iggy and the Stooges are playing in San Paulo, Brazil. If you can’t make it to South America on such short notice, or if hopping over that pond called the Atlantic isn’t in your budget, you only have to wait until 2010 to catch a gig. Iggy says that more gigs are coming, a full on tour in fact, but dates are yet to be released. In the meantime, however, you can check out his new solo album Préliminaires, or his studio cameos on recordings by Ida Maria and Jemina Pearl. Those might just be enough to tide you over until you get the chance to lay eyes on the sexagenarian punk icon yourself sometime in the New Year.
