Singer-songwriter Ellie Greenwich, writer of many 60s rock songs that we hold near and dear to our hearts, has unfortunately passed away at the age of 69-years-old with the cause of death yet to be revealed. Inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 1991, the writer penned such hits as Da Doo Ron Ron, Be My Baby and Christmas (Baby Please Come Home). She formed a brief song writing team with her husband Jeff Barry, coining tracks for The Ronettes, The Crystals and The Exciters before the couple separated in 1965, although still joining forces to write tracks for many artists including Neil Diamond. Artists such as U2, Tina Turner and Elton John have recorded adaptations of the writer’s tracks, and join a list of musicians that are mourning the loss of a classic writer. R.I.P Ellie Greenwich.
