Dean Turner, pivotal member of the Australian guitar outfit Magic Dirt, passed away August 21st from a rare form of deep tissue cancer at the age of 37. The Aussie rock troupe graced the stage with the likes of such 90s heavy hitters as Hole, Sonic Youth and Pavement, striking their debut iron with the 1996 effort entitled Friends in Danger. The rocker’s passing leaves a tear in the quilt of grungers alike and begs the acknowledgment of such formative rock that sprung from early 90s angst. Turner leaves behind his loving wife and two daughters. R.I.P Dean Turner.
