The Soundtrack of Our Lives – Communion

Back with a 24-song ear burner The Soundtrack of Our Lives perk up with the conception of their latest double album, Communion. Driven by the Floyd-esque layering of the psychedelic era and the sheer gritty mind set of the darkest parts of giant 60s rock, Communion has the charm and tar to attract the light and heavy at heart. Each tune is a structured wall of sound carefully thought out to invoke the highest level of emotion, and the surprising abundance of tracks doesn’t affect the creative quality from song to song. However the fantastic addition to this release is the light dusting of classic wood lodge alt country, and the indirect instruction that TSOOL dole out to the “indie” artists of the world, showing the attractive simplicity of creating progressive resonant sound, without a pretentious overtone that masks the originally sought out modesty of the mission. Creating an aggressively musical record without the cantankerous essence that comes with full and very present rock is a goal that these Swedish rock mongers can check off the list. This album is gracefully huge and rings like cherry blossoms exploding in Jim Morrison’s head. In the name of the father, the son and the body of rock… Amen.
