Super groups are all the rage these days. Snow Patrol singer Gary Lightbody, Belle and Sebastian’s Richard Colburn and R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck are now collectively known as Tired Pony. The trio have already completed a ten-track album, The Place We Ran From, and samples of most, if not all the tracks are available on the band’s YouTube channel. The Tired Pony site also features an album teaser where you see part of the recording process, which apparently took place largely in dark basements and kitchens. Single Point Me at Lost Islands features Zooey Deschanel, of Almost Famous and (500) Days of Summer fame, adding a pretty impressive female vocal to the picture. I guess the band is fond of the Brits however, because the album drops in a few weeks in the U.K. while it only hits North American shelves September 28th.
